Feedsacks Fabric by Moda

Feed sacks made their first appearance in the farmhouse kitchens of mid-west America in the 1840s. They contained basic foodstuffs brought from the nearest town every few months. Designs included everything from florals to scenes from everyday life.

All household material goods could be made including pillowcases, curtains and clothes. Feed sacks were especially popular during the Depression and World War II but by the 1950s the gradual decline of these bright, beautiful and functional fabrics began.

As quilting has recently taken a new interest in the past, feed sack fabrics are back in fashion and we have a bright, colourful range from Blue Hill Fabrics for you to recreate those beautiful quilts in these vibrant prints.
